We will be continuing to do research and work on the research paper as well as starting our Othello unit. We will be focusing on different interpretations of Othello based on critical lenses.
Monday - Othello unit; introductory Powerpoint and notes Tuesday - start reading Act 1 of Othello; work on handouts Wednesday - continue reading Act 1 of Othello; watch movie Thursday - Research/40 note cards from sources Friday - 40 note cards due at the end of class We will be continuing our reading of Othello as well as working on our research papers due on October 10th. Monday - Othello Act 2, looking at the "Moor" in Renaissance Literature Tuesday - Othello Act 2, Iago's views on Women Wednesday - Viewing Othello on stage video Thursday - Work on outline; computer lab Friday - Finish outline - due at the end of class
We will be in the media center for the next two days. During this time, the first two items on your checklist will be due at the end of class on Friday. Checklists submitted to me after that will have reduced points.
This week we will begin our research paper portion of Senior Project. Seniors should talk with their mentors to come up with a current trend, problem, or topic to research. Monday, September 2 - LABOR DAY Tuesday, September 3 - Vocabulary list 2 out, Research Paper Guidelines and Checklist given out, students write vocabulary sentences. Proposal Due. Wednesday, September 4 - Students will be in the Media Center to learn Noodletools and start their research Thursday, September 4 - Students will be in Media Center to research. 10 sources are due - 1st item on checklist. Friday, September 5 - Students will be in Media Center to research. Students will turn in the 6 annotated sources that they think will be helpful in their paper.
Good morning, everyone - this is a reminder that all late work MUST BE made up/completed by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13. This includes all quizzes and handouts that are in the gradebook. If you do not make arrangements to make up this work before then, you will receive a zero per my syllabus policy. Please see me if you have any questions!!!
This week we will be working on a Reflective essay that recounts an experience about being a "stranger in the village." Students are asked to include sensory details as well as narrative elements to fully engage the reader in their story. We will also be working on Senior Project Proposals during the week. Monday, August 26 - Students receive outline for Reflective Essay. They will brainstorm content for each paragraph as well as write out sensory details. Tuesday, August 27 - Students will meet in the computer lab to type their rough draft and also work on their Proposal. They will need to have a printed copy of their rough draft for Wednesday. Wednesday, August 28 - Students will peer edit their rough drafts in class. Thursday August 29 - Students will type their final drafts as well as work on Proposal Friday August 30 - Final edits on Proposal, Final Draft due of Reflective essay, turn in electronic copy to Turnitin.com by Midnight, Tues 9/3
