Being an NHS Officer is a major responsibility that requires commitment and dedication to properly uphold. As your Secretary, I would dedicate all the time that I can to make sure that the service hour chart is constantly updated and to handle all issues with hours to the best of my ability. Organization and patience are some of the traits necessary to perform the operations of a secretary, both of which I believe I strongly display. I have the qualifications to hold the position of Secretary next year from my experience as K9 Corps Vice President and Helping Hands Co-President. Dealing with community service hours can be a trying task; however, after dealing with hundreds of hours on a monthly basis for a while, I was able to develop the skills and mindset necessary to accurately and efficiently log hours. I want to be your secretary to be able to work in conjunction with other officers to ensure that your hours are always logged properly and any issues regarding service hours are solved in the best manner possible. Thank you for considering me as a candidate to be your NHS Secretary. Cori Mayne I would be a good secretary for Wheeler’s chapter of NHS because I am someone who completes assignments on time, has great attention to detail, and is very organized. I take pride in my ability to take charge when things need to be done, and I would make sure that members are able to see their hours accurately reflected on a spreadsheet from early on in the year. My hope is that my contributions as a secretary would inspire further motivation in other NHS members to become more actively involved in service in the school and the community. Risha Hedge
Hello, my name is Risha Hegde and I am applying for the position of Vice President-Community/Publicity. NHS provides a platform to organize and host many events to create volunteer opportunities. I would like to utilize my experience and passion to create various new events to extend more volunteer opportunities for all the members and possibly attract new members. I would like to be in this position so I can make signing in and signing out for events as efficient for possible. I have other officer positions, such as VP of NEHS where I help send out emails and news to the members, so I am qualified for this position. I will make sure to directly contact members to notify them that they are in danger of not meeting the hours requirement in advance, so they have plenty of time to get those missing hours. I am an organized and responsible leader who will make NHS more efficient and energetic! Ishaan Chaubey I aspire to serve as a vice president involved in community/publicity who will be responsible for leading and organizing various service opportunities as well as creating and monitoring multiple sign-up and service hours spreadsheets in an organized manner at the Wheeler High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. I plan to work closely with the president and other officers in planning, coordinating, and effectively communicating about various upcoming service events to interested members as well as presenting projects to NHS members. I also believe that I am well-qualified for this position since I am currently leading the Relevant World and Scientific Affairs organization, and my job is to communicate, coordinate, and manage meeting dates along with finding interesting topics to discuss with interested attendees. Additionally, I serve as an interim officer in the Future Physicians of America club, and I am responsible in assisting and organizing events at the AG Rhodes Health and Rehabilitation Center as well as recording and conveying volunteer service hours to the secretary of the club. Also, I am serving as an event supervision officer for the Cobb STEM foundation, and I am consistently involved in leading and judging multiple elementary and middle school math and science competitions as well as aiding younger students to expand their knowledge about STEM topics through various interactive activities. Additionally, the leadership qualities of responsibility, optimism, creativity, and commitment have helped me to manage and perform multiple service opportunities effectively which have constructively impacted the community. Furthermore, possessing a compassionate and benevolent nature has helped me bring many smiles on faces which motivated me to serve more to the community, and I see that possessing organizational and leadership skills, the diligence to serve, and fondness towards others are all like distinct ingredients in minestrone soup. When amalgamated with each other, these ingredients can concoct a new delicious dish with an exquisite taste. Similarly, I view this position in the National Honor Society as a flavoring medium which will aid me to excel to a new remarkable level in bringing meaningful change to the Wheeler High School community. Hi, my name is Eric. I hope to serve as the Vice President for Community and Publicity for NHS next year since I feel it is the position that best matches my skills and experiences. I am currently the communications coordinator for Tri-M, a music honor society that focuses on community outreach and service. I have managed every event and service opportunity this past school year and have a lot of experience publicizing them to members. Keeping track of member emails is also a challenge that I have learned to tackle and overcome during my time serving Tri-M. I feel I can apply these skills to NHS to help make service opportunities more accessible to all members and make the process easier for all people involved. Ashleigh Ewald When I met a Holocaust survivor in 5th grade that inspired me to be a politician because I wanted to protect people’s human rights due to horrific events made in the past. I have been involved in many political events and I am an experienced candidate. I am running for Vice-President because as your VP I can essure new ways to help students overcome bullying, expand study sessions that will work for many, and be a leader who will represent all. If were elected then you will see a leader who will listen, respect, be truthful, compassionate, and improve student's lives. Please vote for me as VP and you will see positive outcomes. Vivek Raman
Hello everyone! I am Vivek Raman, and I am running for Vice President--Set-Up for the Wheeler chapter of National Honor Society. I would like to serve in this role because I want to give back to the Wheeler community with our NHS Chapter by supporting student success and actively serving in the community at-large. As a VP of Set-Up, my job would be to create tutoring opportunities in and outside of Wheeler, and manage all NHS tutoring within our chapter. I think that this role is crucial to supporting Wheeler students, which why I want to serve in this capacity. In terms of qualifications, I am fitting for this role because of my leadership experience and communication skills. I have served in multiple leadership positions in and outside of school, and have also instructed a leadership program. I am a good speaker and among the teams I have worked with, I have communicated effectively. Specifically for the role of VP--Set-Up, I am very organized and diligent, especially when it comes to the needs of others, which is why I am an ideal candidate for setting up and managing tutoring opportunities for Wheeler NHS. Thank you for your consideration Shray Dewan
If there was one wish you had for Wheeler, what would it be? For me, it would unquestionably be increased levels of support for those struggling in classes. When I take a step back and view the contrast between those who excel in classes and those who often receive failing grades, I am truly dismayed, yet motivated to create change in the school that we cherish going to each day. Consequently, giving back to our community and helping struggling kids has become my high school motif, and I feel that I have established a strong foundation of future progress within Wheeler. First, I have accumulated over 270 community service hours in the past three years for Wheeler, and the majority of this number is driven from volunteering at elementary and middle school events as providing these young children with an opportunity to build a strong building structure that can be adorned with further decorations, or more advanced knowledge, fascinates me. Second, I created my own club, JOYS (Joining Older and Younger Students), that is designed to aid rising freshmen and new Wheeler students in better assimilating into our school. These two aspects have given me the opportunity to help unfortunate kids, and the President role would allow me to further this passion into one more focused on aiding fellow students in need. Moreover, this is why I, Shray Dewan, humbly ask for your vote for President. Here are copies of the service slips and the tutoring slips. Turn in all signed slips to Ms. Sellman's room, 2073.
